Andrew Stark’s debut show garden at the 2026 Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show is a celebration of architecture, symmetry and richly layered planting.
Situated in a perfect location opposite the Royal Exhibition Building, the formal, Italian-inspired layout of Urban Luxe is juxtaposed with a modern, expressive plant palette that adds softness to structure through sculptural planting, vibrance and scale.
In true Stark fashion, the botanical selection, provided solely by Warners Nurseries, is rich and diverse. Tall living pergolas provide dappled shade over a dense tapestry of perennials, shrubs and grasses that ease the sharp edges and symmetries of the paved surfaces.
A selection of large ornamental urns and glazed French pots create colourful points of interest at various locations throughout the garden, offering space for reflection. The pots are elevated at varying heights above the ground, placed on a solid foundation of Anston plinths. Produced in the colour Atlas, the plinths were custom-made specially for the show garden, bringing extra height and a solid, grounding foundation to balance the space.
MIFGS 2026 was one of the defining highlights of my horticultural career — an opportunity to express my passion for highly stylised, geometric design alongside my love of flowering perennials. It was an incredible experience working with some of the best in the industry, and connecting with so many like-minded people who share a deep appreciation for horticulture.
