A classic home, reimagined for modern living.
Set in one of Sydney’s most prestigious residential neighbourhoods and nestled up high amongst leafy surroundings, this Bellevue Hill home is full of character.
The homeowners, wanting to get more out of the garden, engaged Breana Graham Landscape Architecture to reimagine the landscape entirely. The design brief aimed to introduce more utility to the outdoor space, while keeping the environment connected and cohesive with the existing traditional architecture of the home.
The added new features of the renovated garden promote a lively outdoor lifestyle. A spacious pool and spa, a dedicated BBQ and outdoor dining zone, a sun deck for lounging, and a fireplace for cooler evenings are new additions to the landscape, each fulfilling individual functions but bound together with the clever use of recurring design elements. Throughout the space, lush touches of tropical foliage soften sharp edges and blur thresholds, effectively fusing disparate zones together.
Complementing the light, creamy hues of the property, Anston’s sandy-coloured Dune paver was chosen as a prominent visual element within the garden. Bold 1m x 1m pavers, contrasting with deep green bands of turf, create a diagonal gridded flooring pattern that instantly captures attention. The formal flooring design flows to the pool area where Dune is seen again in the pool pavers bordering the pool, building a linear perimeter that culminates in a wide arc enveloping the embedded spa.
Anston’s Dune paver from the EcoPebble range was an elegant addition to this classic garden renovation. With the client looking to enhance the usability of the space while remaining true to the home’s traditional character, we selected these 1m x 1m pavers to introduce a refined, contemporary touch. Laid in a formal diagonal pattern, they strike a considered balance between classic design and modern expression, elevating both the functionality and aesthetic of the garden.

The completed project is a success story of a landscape transformed. The separate spaces of the garden are well connected and unified by purpose, liveability and longevity, with a thoughtfully considered material and plant selection that feels premium and permanent.
