VSBA – Victorian New Schools

By FORMium, Landscape Architectural Practice

Since 2017, the Victorian School Building Authority has successfully delivered 82 new primary and secondary state schools, fulfilling the educational needs of developing communities within the state’s growth corridors. More schools are planned for completion by 2026, allowing every Victorian child to have access to a local school.

Landscape architecture practice FORMium has been involved since the commencement of the extensive project, and are responsible for the detailed landscape design at multiple new schools. Their design scope covers all external works including site planning, entrances, recreational spaces, playgrounds, sports fields, plazas and detailed planting.

Working with Anston (then SVC Urban), FORMium developed a blueprint for repeatable precast concrete seat modules that could be used across multiple schools in varying configurations, enabling a homogeneous design style that allowed individual site variations.

The successful launch of the New Schools project has established a solid benchmark for the VSBA’s ongoing implementation of new and upgraded Victorian schools, bringing top-quality educational facilities to more Victorian schoolchildren.
