The new Transport Interchange at Monash University’s Clayton campus brings a contemporary new look to the entrance of the university. The project successfully integrates bus, cyclist and pedestrian services within well-marked spaces.
Located between the interchange and the new Learning & Teaching building are custom paving slabs by Anston (then SVC Urban) that form a threshold between the spaces, while subtly protecting the plantings in the garden beds. The paving slabs are designed with a slanting edge reaching upward to the sky, creating an eye-catching design detail.
Construction was completed by Baron Forge, who had to conduct works in a live environment that was open to the comings and goings of university students and staff, as well as visitors and all other members of the general public who utilise the multiple transport connections offered via the interchange.
