Springvale Boulevard Streetscape Upgrade

By City of Greater Dandenong, Local Government Area

Bringing flair to the bustling neighborhood of Springvale, the iconic arterial road of Springvale Boulevard underwent a grand redesign.

The City of Greater Dandenong commissioned a staged upgrade of Springvale Boulevard, with the aim to improve pedestrian connections while maintaining the flow of traffic. Sections of custom Anston pavers were installed between Balmoral Avenue and Windsor Avenue, creating a unique design feature in the streetscape.

Installed by MACA Infrastructure, the design of the pavers are unique, formed in irregular pentagonal shapes that are mirrored and rotated to create an intricate paving configuration. Three different colours were utilised to make the once ordinary footpath pop. Following an extensive sampling process with the landscape architects, council and project teams, Char, Atlas and Atlas + Bluemetal were the final colours selected for the new streetscape.

The Springvale Boulevard upgrade was part of the broader Revitalising Springvale project by the Greater Dandenong City Council. The tri-coloured pentagonal pavers, now seamlessly integrated into the landscape, offer a unique and eye-catching visual that is now a distinctive feature of Springvale’s central axis.
