Parkdale Secondary College

By Taylor Oppenheim Architects, Architecture Studio

Located in Melbourne’s south east, Parkdale Secondary College is a co-educational public high school, known for its strong academic programs, inclusive community, and commitment to student development.

In the 2019-20 State Budget, the college received funding for an upgrade to modernise the school’s facilities. The following years saw the establishment of a new Junior Learning Centre, as well as a revitalisation of the outdoor courtyard spaces and toilet block. The landscaping upgrade welcomed new hard courts, artificial grassed areas and the addition of concrete bench seats in varying sizes and shapes to furnish the modernised environment.

The concrete furniture was supplied by Anston using a variety of catalogue bench seats, a design-ready solution that enabled quick production and delivery without any compromise to product quality or finish. The inclusion of Anston Block, Wave, Cove and Marsh bench seats in the new courtyard promotes inclusivity and social interaction among the student cohort, encouraging conversations with ‘campfire-esque’ seating configurations.
