LIV Aston is a 39-storey apartment tower – the second Victorian offering in renowned property developer Mirvac’s build-to-rent portfolio.
Officially opened in August 2024, LIV Aston is located on the corner of Spencer and Siddeley Streets in Melbourne’s Docklands. It houses 474 rental apartments and over 2,600 square meters of amenities for residents, including a 25-metre lap pool, spa, gym, yoga deck, rooftop lounge, pet park, and co-working spaces. The impressive development also features a workers club, library, and private dining areas, which aims to provide a resort style living experience in the heart of the city.
Anston (then SVC Urban) was contracted to create 78 large-format bespoke planters that would adorn the Siddeley Street façade of the high-rise building. Each floor features 3 planters side-by-side, each weighing a hefty 5 tonnes – an impressive achievement on a high-rise residential tower.
Customisation was a crucial part of the project, with six different variations of the planters being produced due to changes in how the units would be securely attached to the building facade. Furthermore, the Anston team needed to re-engineer the planters to reduce weight and incorporate fixings for window cleaners and scaffolding, as well as waterproofing the planters.
The final outcome is an impressive display of Anston’s capabilities to produce custom products and step up to any challenge.
