Just 10km from the CBD amidst Melbourne’s western suburbs sits Alfie Altona North, a residential estate by Development Victoria. This cluster of modern townhouses overlooks a linear central park, designed as a hub and focal point of the Alfie community.
Originally the site of the Altona Gate Primary School, the 2.4 hectare site was rezoned for residential growth, offering 127 new townhouses and increased open public space for the community.
Anston (then SVC Urban) was commissioned by landscape contractor Naturform to supply multiple bespoke concrete bench seats for Alfie’s central park. Produced in sleek charcoal concrete with a subtle bluemetal exposed aggregate finish, the bench seat modules were used to construct a seating design wrapping around the garden spaces and through the central BBQ areas. Timber seat tops were included at certain points within the concrete benches, creating additional points of interest.
Residents at Alfie Altona North can enjoy the ample amount of open, useable green space right by their front doors, enlarging their living environment beyond the walls of their residences.
