Orion Townhome Development, Braybrook

By DKO Architecture, Architectural Design Firm

Orion is a vibrant master planned community of contemporary townhomes located in Braybrook, Victoria. Developed by Stockland and designed by DKO Architecture, Orion offers modern living spaces with a focus on community and sustainability.

Situated just 12km from Melbourne CBD, Orion is strategically positioned close to schools, transport and retail precincts, creating easy connections to essential providers. Stockland set out to provide a high quality of living for Orion residents, with each townhouse thoughtfully designed to cater to various lifestyle needs.

All homes within the community are designed to be within walking distance of open space or natural parklands, enabling residents to reap the health benefits of living in close proximity to nature. To ensure these communal open spaces were safe, welcoming and functional, they required state-of-the-art amenities and high-quality, durable seating solutions, providing opportunities for residents to engage and interact.

Anston (then SVC Urban) was contracted to supply bespoke concrete seat modules to furnish the outdoor landscape at Orion, completing staged deliveries over a three-year period to align with the construction schedule. The seat modules were custom-made to fit the specific requirements of the space,  manufactured with rebates to allow for timber seat inserts to be added during installation. The bespoke bench seats complement the contemporary design of the townhomes, integrating seamlessly with the surrounding landscape and architecture.

Concrete’s prevalence in streetscapes and outdoor environments is largely due to its robustness, longevity, and ability to withstand outdoor conditions, making it an ideal choice for high-traffic communal areas. Post installation, the bespoke seats at Orion have become a key element in the landscape, and have contributed to the sense of community within the development. Their durability ensures that they will remain a feature of the communal spaces for years to come, offering a lasting and sustainable seating solution that supports Stockland’s vision of healthy, connected community living at Orion.
