CLEC Docklands Park Upgrade

By Mala, Landscape Architecture & Urban Design Practice

The CLEC Docklands project involved the transformation of the dilapidated eastern portion of Docklands Park into a vibrant new recreational and cultural hub.

Designed by MALA studio and constructed by Maben Group, Stage 1 of the project housed the relocated MPavilion of 2015. The upgraded park design included sweeping concrete benches with slatted timber seat tops, extending throughout the park and creating ample seating amidst soft green spaces.

Stage 2 of the Docklands Park redevelopment incorporated the introduction of a multi-purpose sports court featuring exercise stations, ping pong tables, daybeds and seating. Anston (then SVC Urban) supplied various concrete seat modules that meander throughout the new space, similar to those provided during Stage 1 of the upgrade.

The site has been described as a ‘new generation smart park’, with integrated lighting beneath the concrete seats that create attractive night time illumination. Throughout the park, free Wi-Fi and phone charging stations allow visitors and park users to stay connected.

Mala is an energetic landscape architecture and urban design practice, driven by a passion to create inspiring and responsive environments.
