Box Hill Gardens

By Playce, Landscape Architecture Studio

The redevelopment of Box Hill Gardens was endorsed by the City of Whitehorse in 2011, to be carried out as a staged master plan that would make use of the large open space and cater to residents’ needs.

A 1km circuit path circles the site’s perimeter, encouraging jogging and walking activity within the park. Located at the centre of the park, completing the final phase of the master plan, is a new playspace with adjacent rest area and BBQ facilities, designed by PLAYCE.

Anston (then SVC Urban) worked with client Planned Constructions to deliver 23 charcoal concrete benches that are a key feature of the central rest area. The benches possess a striking shot-blasted finish, complementing dark timber seat tops installed above.
