510 Church Street, Richmond

By Cox Architecture,

510 Church Street is a sophisticated new commercial building offering sublime views over Melbourne’s sporting precinct and the CBD.

Designed by Cox Architecture, the development houses nine levels of office space, terraced gardens and ground floor amenities. The sustainably constructed building achieves a 5 Green Star rating and a 5 Star NABERS rating.

At ground level, the recessed foyer opens up more space for pedestrians and passers-by. Bespoke concrete planters echo the ribboned shape of the levels above, injecting pops of lush greenery within the manmade environment. Adjacent concrete and timber seating provide areas of respite for visitors to take in some fresh air.

Anston (then SVC Urban) was contracted for the supply of bespoke precast concrete elements for the installation of the ground level planters and seats bordering the new building. The curved modules proved challenging for moulding and casting due to certain tight areas that required more precision and focus. However, the final modules were satisfactorily completed and the resulting streetscape is beautifully furnished with these concrete elements playing a key part.
