Bringing life to the Port Phillip foreshore, the South Melbourne Life Saving Club has been reimagined with a modern, open design that invites interaction from members of the community.
Designed by Jackson Clements Burrows, the layout of the new building is a direct response to the linear foreshore and the adjacent Beaconsfield Parade. Warm timber decking and wide terraces provide enchanting ocean vistas from the street, encouraging visitors to make their way through to the beach.
On the street side of the building, landscaping contractor Melbourne Paving was engaged to install concrete paving to match up with the long expanse of paving on the Beaconsfield Parade footpath. To ensure seamless integration with the existing thoroughfare, Anston supplied paving in a custom concrete mix to match the existing Gattistone paving that had been installed in the 90s.
The results are breathtaking, and the new Clubhouse is an engaging space that blends harmoniously with its surroundings and draws captive attention from passers-by.
