Melbourne architecture studio Dubois designed each of the 132 guest rooms and suites with a private balcony or courtyard, encouraging guests to relax in the tranquillity of the outdoor setting. Given the property’s exquisite location on the Townsville breakwater, a motivating factor in the design was to capitalise on the panoramic seaside views from each floor, treating guests to postcard sunset views every evening.
One of Ardo’s major drawcards is its infinity rooftop pool. Sun lounges stretch across an expanse of paved decking, letting guests bask in the sun while sipping on cocktails from the poolside bar and enjoying uninterrupted views of the sparkling Coral Sea. The pool deck was constructed with reinforced pedestal pavers and pool coping by Anston, in the charmingly cool white hues and exposed aggregate finish of Ironstone Bone.
Each private courtyard and outdoor terrace overlooking the ocean is similarly paved with Anston Bone pedestal pavers. These pedestal pavers include Anston’s signature safety feature for pedestal applications – a built-in reinforced mesh that prevents paver failure during impact loads, safeguarding users against potential falls.
